It is a risk factor for developing type-2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and many other conditions. Insulin resistance occurs many years before such diseases appear. This is why its early detection may be of significant importance for their prevention. In our Department, we measure insulin sensitivity in young, healthy individuals using advanced methods. The objective of our research is to find biomarkers indicating a predisposition for diseases connected with insulin resistance as well as targets for new medicines. We also conduct body weight reduction programs for the obese based on selected food ingredients.
