Laboratorium Obrazowania Molekularnego i Rozwoju Technologii UMB Sp. z o.o. (UMB Molecular Imaging and Technology Development Laboratory”, Ltd)
The Laboratory is equipped with a state-of-the-art device - Biograph mMR, which allows for doing simultaneously positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance (MR).
The Molecular Imaging Laboratory (MIL) is operated by a special purpose entity set up by Medical University in Bialystok (UMB) – “UMB Molecular Imaging and Technology Development Laboratory”, Ltd. The Laboratory is equipped with a state-of-the-art device - Biograph mMR, which allows for doing simultaneously positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance (MR). It is one of the most precise hybrid tests. Thanks to the application of isotope markers in PET, metabolism disorders can be diagnosed very early – even at the cellular level while the MR shows the location of abnormalities. As a result, this PET/MRI test helps to detect diseases at a very early stage. It is extremely important especially in the case of cancer and neurological diseases, where very often only early treatment gives a chance for full recovery.
PET/MR Bio-scanner laboratory is a medical facility located in MIL. It performs commercial diagnostics tests: whole-body and head PET/MR and a full profile 3-tesla magnetic resonance (spine, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis and joints, also with contrast). Under the agreement with Medical University in Bialystok, Biograph mMR and modern laboratory facilities are also used to perform tests needed for research projects and teaching purposes. Hybrid PET/MR tests as well as MR spectroscopy are a source of precious information which help to understand better disease mechanisms and treatment efficiency. Hence, they are an important part of research in the field of oncology, cardiology, neurology, metabolic and infectious diseases.
