BPN-T Academic Entrepreneurship, Cooperation and Innovation Accelerator
Białystok Science and Technology Park launched the Academic Entrepreneurship, Cooperation and Innovation Accelerator project, with financial support of over one million zlotys from the Regional Operational Programme of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
The goal of the project was to support the development of entrepreneurship in the region. As a result, two unique and modern spaces were created: Centroom and Transfer Chamber (Transferownia in Polish)
Centroom is a co-working space located in the centre of Białystok. It offers optimum conditions for creative work and stimulates formation of an inclusive milieu of freelancers who practically explore new ideas.
The establishing of Centroom involved:
- purchasing international licence for co-working spaces,
- purchasing, adapting and installing Centroom’s equipment,
- purchasing support software for Centroom’s activities and developing international cooperation with similar entities.
The second space is Transfer Chamber, a meeting place for two environments: the academic society and local entrepreneurs. As a part of this cooperation, students and scientists work on different projects proposed by the companies.
The establishing of Transfer Chamber involved:
purchasing international licence that supports the transfer of technologies,
- purchasing and installation of Transfer Chamber’s equipment,
- purchasing support software for Transfer Chember’s activities and developing a network of international cooperation with leading technology transfer centres.
The functioning of Centroom and Transfer Chamber contributes to the growth of innovativeness in our region and the creation of new jobs for highly qualified local citizens. Furthermore, carrying out of the project will decrease the number of graduates who leave the region in search of employment, and the city will become more attractive to the investors. Also those citizens who have already left the city will be encouraged to return.
The expected implementation period of the project spans from January 2013 to December 2014.
The total project value is PLN 2,419,359.45, with PLN 2,038,683.00 as eligible costs.
The project has also received financial support from the European Regional Development Fund as a part of the Regional Operational Programme of Podlaskie Voivodeship in the years 2007-2013.
